Chris Crisman is the photographer who took this photo. He is from Titusville, PA and is still living. When he was in college, he studied at UPENN in Philadelphia. He isn't just an artist; he is a commercial photographer. Some of his clients are AOL, Wells Fargo, The American Red Cross, Schwab and Belkin. Crisman takes many different types of photos but most of them are of one person doing a certain thing that pertains to their life. The specific photo I chose really interested me because the photo's subject, gymnastics, is a huge part of my life.
The way I will try to emulate the photo is I will have someone get on the bar and do giants. I'd lay under the bar to get the right angle. I may shut the lights off and use the flash on the camera. I might have my friend look directly at me and the camera and try to convey a certain emotion.
My photo has a lot less contrast than the photographers photo and is much darker, but I tried to capture the same angle, which I believe I accomplished. Even though my photo doesn’t have many whites and blacks, one can see where the light source is coming from and I think that adds an effect to the photo. I put the phone on the ground and took the picture by pressing the button on the side. The picture would by less pixely if the bar was higher however one can get the
concept that she is flipping in the air.
This photo is vertical and doesn’t follow the rule of thirds because she is centered completely in the middle of the picture. The clear focal point is Ericka, above me, on the bar. My photograph was not in focus because of how
close the camera was to the bar.
Both of these photo’s are really interesting because one can’t tell how high she is or what she is doing. The mood would be light and fun.
